The Pride of Oklahoma band is getting excited and anxious about this year’s auditions, as there are already over 350 students registered to audition with 320 positions available.
In years past, the band has consistently had 310 to 320 members, said Brian Britt, director of the Pride. He said he hopes for that number to stay high as the Pride has had a strong recruiting class this year.
“It will enable us to continue providing the Sooner fans with a consistently high level of performance and a powerful musical presence in the stands as we support the Sooners to their 8th National Championship,” he said.
Every year each member of the Pride must re-audition for a position.
Britt said “there are no guaranteed positions in the Pride, the best prepared students earn a position, and it doesn’t matter what classification you are.”
The Pride’s first pep rally will be the Big Red Rally on Friday, Aug. 25.
