You still have this weekend to register for Homecoming 2014, thanks to an extension from the Athletic Ticket Office. But don’t dawdle: we have to have final numbers by 8:00 AM Monday morning, September 29!
The TCU game on October 4 will kickoff at 2:30 PM CDT, at Amon Carter Stadium on the TCU campus. The game will be telecast by FOX (that means the broadcast network, not a regional FSN or FOX Sports 1, to the best of my knowledge), so that’s channel 25 in the Oklahoma City area and channel 23 in the Tulsa area.
Spoke a bit too soon: we have now updated the online calendar with the Pride’s public events for the Tennessee @ OU game Saturday night (broadcast nationally on ABC).
We also have the Press Bookletfor tomorrow night’s show for your perusal, with the details of the show including formations and announcements. BOOMER!
Our calendar finally has been updated, so if you subscribe to it in Windows or Google or iOS Calendar programs, this year’s games should show up properly. No pregame or postgame schedules are included because I do not have access to those for 2014 as of this writing.
The game schedules are provided by Yahoo, so any game whose kickoff time is not yet set is listed as a noon (central time) kickoff. That’s not precise, but on the other hand, before fixing this, the previous calendar had one parade scheduled for (I think) September 28, 2999. So I’ll take the incorrect noon kickoff times. I shall endeavor to keep it updated this fall.
(Yes, Homecoming 2014 is on there. Register now!)
Remember Smokey and the Bandit? “We’ve got a long way to go, and a short time to get there…”
OK, so I’m old. Nonetheless, it’s true. Homecoming is October 16, the Saturday after OU-Texas, when the Sooners host Kansas State. That means your officers and your webmaster (who is in no danger of breaking any speed records himself) have very little time to get everything counted, deposited, ordered, scheduled, blocked, laminated, sorted, labeled, borrowed, packaged … um, I want to say “narrated?” Frosted?
I’m forgetting about 25 things here. To get that all done on everyone else’s deadline, our own deadline has to be pushed up significantly. That’s why registration for Homecoming 2014 is due on September 23, 2014.
There’s a big old counter at the top of the home page counting down the time; it’s almost exactly two weeks away as I write this. So don’t dawdle on your registration and tickets to see the post-Red River Rivalry Sooners take on conference rivals Kansas State and participate in a halftime show featuring the state’s biggest singalong ever, as far as I know!
