Pride announces new assistant director
The Pride of Oklahoma marching band will have a new assistant director for the 2006-07 football season.
Jeff Jahnke, an OU alumnus who currently teaches at Jenks High School, will join the Pride teaching staff this summer as the new assistant director of bands. He replaces Michael Boone, who served as assistant director since 2001.
“We’re really excited to have have him,” said Brian Britt, director of the Pride. “He will be a tremendous asset to the program.”
Jahnke was one of three finalists, all of whom were OU graduates. These three finalists were selected among 16 applicants from last fall and went through an interview process during the spring semester. Britt said the process was to present candidates with a variety of situations similar to those candidates would face as assistant director.
“All finalists led a Symphony Band rehearsal and a rehearsal with Pride students,” Britt said. “All three were highly qualified. As we went through the process, it appeared that Mr. Jahnke would be the best fit to our program.”
Jeff’s appointment begins this summer. Congratulations, Jeff!
